cPanel host, re-reading ini files

Question in bold below this introduction.

My site is remotely hosted through cPanel. It is a shared resources configuration and I don't have root privilege. I do have considerable rights but not all the way down to the level of Apache administration (for instance.)

I'm testing a music hosting package, but for the context of this question I want to remain more general. I'll post the name of it at the top of the details.

I'm new at PHP but I have a few years experience as a sysadmin for other systems. That said the PHP ini files used in the music system appear to be rather straightforward and well commented.

I'd like to un-comment a line to see the affect. (no problem, I've got the right and understand the responsibility)

Question:
How do I force the system to re-read an ini to apply the change?
(Or is it necessary?)

Server Details:
The music server is named "Ampache" - with an "m"

cPanel provides these PHP tools:
(I understand they don't necessarily apply to PHP administration)
phpMyAdmin
phpPgAdmin
PHP Pear Packages
MultiPHPManager
MultiPHP INI Editor
terminal (RHE)
a GUI file manager with an editor

Other PHP titled commands available:
(among a large assortment of Linux commands)
(directory links to multiple versions of PHP available)

You need to restart the web server for php.ini file changes to take effect. Normally:

sudo service apache2 reload

or:

sudo apache2ctl graceful
 
Thanks, but in this shared hosting environment the subscribers don't have access to su, sudo, service, apache2, apache2ctl

I can use:
lsphp, lsphp.cagefs, pear, peardev, pecl, phar.phar, php, php-cgi, php-cgi.cagefs, php-config, php.cagefs, phpize

There are many other commands available in $PATH and in other branches where I have some combination of rwx.
 
You can make changes to the PHP settings specific to your account by using the MultiPHP INI Editor provided by cPanel. Here's how you can do it:

if you find that the current hosting environment is limiting your control and performance requirements, you may consider exploring other hosting options that provide more flexibility, such as virtual private servers (VPS) or Managed Hosting. These options give you more control over the server configuration and allow for greater customization.
