database for my small sites

i plan to have various small sites that will use wordpress but on my hosting account i have 25 databases available. i do not want to use a separate database for each
can i use one database and separate it into smaller sites? i know that during installation of wordpress it gives us an option like that

but how does it work, do you recommend it? do i make sense? what may be the disadvantages?
