How to run the PHP script to connect with MYSQL

I have installed apache, MYSQL, PHP and phpMyadmin
In windows 2000.
I have the script for connection of PHP with MYSQL
but how to run it. I have it in a notep[ad file.
 
after you have installed everything and configured, copy the file to your servers document root and rename it from *.txt to *.php

Note that you need to disable the function "Hide known file extentions" in windows explorer, otherwise you might have problems renaming it correctly
 
how can i rename because I can't see the extaension only the file name
