Starting a program on client computer

Hello all,
Is there a way to start a program on a client computer thru a web page. I am designing a web page for a gaming club and I want to put an icon on the page that when clicked will start the game on the client computer.

Any ideas ?

use JS but I'm not think that its good idea.....
 
to start a game on the client computer is not possible with php...
You have to build a com compnent for Internet Explorer which does that...
It is not possible with Javascript as well
 
You can also try with Java as an alternative to the Windows platform...
