Validating data

I want to have a form in my php file that when user clicks send button the data in the fields gets validated by my php validating functions , if the data is not good it stops and shows message box that invalid data in fields ( don't do to next page unless correct data has been entered ).
any one who knows the sulotion please guide me
 
this is a very basic script and there are LOTS if tutorials out there that will show you how to do this. :!:
