Which one for Login system ... session or cookie ?

Hi all
can you please tell me which system is the best for a login system

- Using session
- Using cookies

and please tell me why is that ?

Sessions will be deleted after the browser is closed... cookies are able to stay on the PC for some time... so if you want your user to be automaticaly logged in on the next visit --- use cookies... note that some browser settings do not allow cookies... so i would try to combine both..
its actually what i always do.. ;)
